The Three Greatest Moments In Item Upgrades History
Path of Exile Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of numerous items in Path of Exile. They can cause additional damage, AD or even affixes.
Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade equipment due to their high requirements.
Armor
Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They improve the stats of the item that they are connected to. Armor upgrades can be found in the world of the game and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. Additionally, they can be rescued from items with upgrade components inside them, using an expert or greater salvage kit.
The amount of damage that an armored piece or weapon can absorb depends on the level of its upgrades. The damage absorption of a piece armor will increase when it is upgraded to the highest upgrade level. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it should be heavier.
There are several kinds of armor upgrades available in the game, and they all have distinct effects. Some upgrades give armor an extra number of health points, while others make it more powerful and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item can get will be indicated by the name of the upgrade, as indicated in the table below.
A few of the upgrades are also magic or a mix of technology and magic, which is shown by the "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Furthermore, some upgrades require a fee to use, which are indicated by a "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges for these upgrades are updated daily or never expire, dependent on the upgrade.
The cheapest method of upgrading armor is to use Iron Ore, which can be found through exploring the surroundings and looting chests of minor loot. Titanium is more expensive but it can be obtained from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can give players a significant boost in stats, and are worth the cost.
The process of upgrading an armor piece to its maximum upgrade level will dramatically increase its defense capabilities but the wearer must be aware that putting more weight on it can drastically decrease its agility and speed. For this reason, it is generally not recommended to upgrade armor pieces beyond +9, since the added defense is usually not worth the extra weight and power cost of the upgrades needed.
view site… give players to enhance certain aspects of their weapon. For instance an upgrade could enhance the damage caused by shotgun shells or the accuracy of a rifle sniper. Certain weapons also come with upgrades that improve their innate characteristics. Frictionless materials (improves stability, minimizes weapon overheating), and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's velocity to cause more damage) are two examples.
The majority of upgrades to weapons require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. These are obtained through either completing Side Quests, taking out a certain number of monsters or bosses or through the Weapon Upgrade NPC located in Central Flarine.
Upgrading a Weapon, Equipment Set piece or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade price that is based on a specific number of Bars. The more bars needed to complete an upgrade, the more advanced the level. The cost of upgrades will be less if you have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.
In Chapter 2: Season 5 the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed. In the past, you could seek out an Upgrade Bench and pay a set number of Bars to upgrade your equipment or weapon to an increased level of rarity. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level at which point the upgrades would reset.
You can still do this but the process is high on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're better off going to the stores and purchasing equipment that has low upgrade levels but excellent base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a better likelihood of granting you most prestigious tier of benefits and blessings.
Most players will want to make the most of upgrades to weapons they are most likely to use to make sure they are able to level up faster. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their teammates use to make them stronger. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to enhance its effectiveness when paired with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.
Jewels
Jewels are used in the sockets of armor and weapons, increasing a stat and providing secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is a method of creating them. You combine a gemstone with a number specific reagents in a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents are obtained in the world through Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and sometimes by salvaging Legendary gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.
The quality of a jewel can be improved upon by the Jeweler, with stages that range from Crude to Royal. Depending on the tier of the gem it can provide different stat boost when slotted into gear, weapons and jewelry.
All tiers of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a certain level to qualify for these. Jewels can be substituted with another jewel without damaging the original. However item upgrading is only possible to replace a jewel in an equipment piece only once.
Using more jewels in a movement can make it feel more comfortable and is usually done for aesthetic reasons. In addition to improving performance, the jewels also create an outer layer that is more durable than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots doesn't cause harm as easily.
A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the appearance of your weapons and shields. These provide a small bonus and can be swapped freely however they aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs, like jewelry, can be upgraded by the Jeweler to exchange gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs may also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, like traits and aegis, cannot be swapped out, and are only recoverable by using an Upgrade Extractor or salvaging them using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage Tool.
Trinkets
Trinkets can be used to provide your hero with various small, but useful benefits. They can be acquired starting in the starter areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, and by completing road interactions. They can also be crafted by jewelers, and then found or purchased at the Trading Post.

The first trinkets a player is able to unlock is the cloak, which grants a small, but valuable boost in speed of movement and the ability to escape. The player can then acquire necklaces, amulets, and rings in a similar fashion to how they acquired weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades provide smaller bonuses and can be placed in any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded, and is only compatible with certain kinds of trinkets.
These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't in combat. This enables the hero to perform better when they are not active and may also help to compensate for the absence of a strong team or any slots in the talent tree which would normally be filled with the hero's ideal statistics.
A good guideline for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you won't be replacing in the near future, then any items with desirable stats but less important than the iLevel of the item that is being upgraded. This is especially true when an item has multiple stats you wish to upgrade, as it's often better to upgrade a single crucial stat than two subpar ones.
At the beginning of the game, players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their yellow trinket into a red one, while top and mid players typically choose the pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices can impact the hero's ability to manage the map.
Aside from the items listed above, players may also find a number of other trinkets throughout the game in the form of awards and trophies. These can be obtained through completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, completing the main quest for a chapter or defeating a boss. These achievements can be seen by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
